About Reiki

Reiki – What does it mean?

Rei – translated as wisdom or knowledge of all the universe. Ki – life force energy.  Say it as “ray-kee”.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique that balances the natural energy of the body for well-being – mind, body and spirit. The Japanese think in terms of meridians and have developed techniques to free and enhance the flow of energy along these pathways. Reiki is a specific frequency of energy for healing. It unblocks the energy meridians of the body and contributes to restoring depleted energy and natural energy balance within the body.

Mikao Usui (1865-1926) developed the Usui system of Reiki
Mikao Usui

The Usui Reiki healing system was developed by Mikao Usui (1865-1926) and is performed by trained practitioners.

Reiki works energetically. We use and expend energy all the time. When we expend energy but do not or cannot replenish ourselves, over time we may become physically or emotionally ill. Reiki can contribute to restoring depleted energy and to balancing natural energy within the body.

Reiki is suitable for everyone who wants it and can be used alongside conventional medicine as well as other complementary therapies.

It is a safe and natural method of relaxation and healing which works on all levels; physical as well as emotional, mental and spiritual. Though people will often choose Reiki in order to relieve symptoms, it can also work on the root cause of discomfort and, if desired, afford you insight into the next step on your life journey.
